Rory McIlroy chasing Sergio Garcia, Tiger style

Rory McIlroy

With just a three shot lead does Sergio hang on, or put the petal to the metal and win the Bridgestone Invitational running away?

We have to admit, this is some of the best golf we’ve seen Sergio play since he first burst onto the scene with so much promise, but McIlroy has his game tuned to perfection.

Since our original pick, Martin Kaymer, is no where to be found, we’ll take a mulligan and say Rory catches Sergio on the back nine at Firestone today!

Bridgestone Invitational

Before we take a look at this year’s tournament, let’s take a moment to reflect on last year’s WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Tiger Woods displayed his once-usual dominance, winning the tournament by seven strokes over Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson.

But that was last year. Let’s take a look at this year’s tournament, where British Open champ Rory McIlroy tees it up against the world’s top 50 golfers!

Will Rory McIlroy win his first Open Championship today?

McIlroy has two majors to his credit, including a PGA Championship and a Masters Championship, but we can’t help  but think that this is the one he really wants.

The Open is special for a lot of reasons, but for someone who hails from Ireland, and who has played golf on the biggest of stages, The Open is the Holy grail.

We’ve even accepted the fact that it’s simply called The Open, because we understand the idea that if you actually invented the game you don’t really need a qualifier for your event.

So, check in right here, early and often, for all your Open action.
